Why subscribe?
The name for this Substack site comes directly from Jeremiah 6:16:
16 Thus says the LORD:
“Stand by the roads, and look,
and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way is; and walk in it,
and find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ - Jeremiah 6:16 (ESV)
“Ask for the ancient paths where the good way is; and walk in it.”
I read these words when as was looking for a good blog name and I knew immediately that it was perfect. Officially, these words describe what we want to do here. We want to point people to “the way, the truth, and the life.” We want to help people find a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ, and if they already know Him, we want to help that relationship to grow. The vast majority of the time, this is done by writing about Scripture. And usually this is done on a verse-by-verse basis.

Jesus and Sexual Immorality
A long time ago, I was reading about a popular current topic and saw the following reply in the comments section: “[I]t has long mentioned that Jesus not once mentioned sexual immorality, outside of that divorce is ONLY acceptable in adultery. The only thing that could be addressed as ‘sexual immorality’ in the Gospels is here…[Matthew 19:11-12]”
Explaining Critical Race Theory to My Friends
Critical race theory has been all over the news, but many of us don’t really know what it is. It has become a staple of almost every political race lately and with gubernatorial elections coming up this fall in many states, we’ll likely be hearing about it all of the time. I stumbled across it almost two years ago, but was already late to the party. …
